Nothing on safari compares with the silence of a balloon at dawn. You are collected from your camp in the dark, watch the balloon being filled with hot air as the sky turns pink, and lift off as the sun rises over the Serengeti. For about an hour you drift with the wind, sometimes just above the treetops, sometimes high over the plains, watching herds, hippo pools and the morning light, while your pilot tells you what you are seeing.
After the landing comes the ballooning tradition of a champagne toast, then a full breakfast served in the bush. A game drive brings you back to camp by late morning, with the rest of the day still ahead.
Why the price varies
The price depends on where and when you fly, the operator, and whether you share a basket or fly privately. A shared flight starts at about $750 per person, and a private flight can reach about $2,000 per person. We confirm the exact price in your quote.
